Whitsuntide Guest Link Check
Whitsuntide 2024 was the week we finally treated the guest headphone run like a preflight. The coffee was ordinary. The checklist was not. Before a remote musician or a space-ops guest sat down, we confirmed the mixer, the recorder, and the little address printed on the cabin router.
A Whitsun week used to mean a lighter calendar. That year it meant three remote sessions stacked on one desk. Each guest brought a different laptop default. One machine arrived already using the same private octet the recorder wanted. Talkback went mute until we moved the cabin LAN onto a quieter range.
Flight software people will recognize the mood. A vehicle bus does not argue with a duplicate address. It just stops making sense. A podcast desk is kinder, yet the silence in the headphones feels the same.
Keep a one-page link check: power, levels, then the private gateway. Do that before you pour the second cup.
